Tavel

Pink wines typically not your fancy? Don’t answer that until you try this month’s recommendation from the Daisywine Collection.

Hot summer days call for a light refreshing wine…There are many white wine options out there, but this summer, let’s try something different: Try a Rosé from Tavel.

Tavel is located in the Cote du Rhone and is known for its exclusivity to Rosé wines. It is an entire region committed to remaining true to its soil. Since the ancient times, the village slogan has been Roi des Rosés, Rosé des Rois (King of the Rosés, Rosé of the Kings).

The people of Tavel believe so strongly about their Rosé that they refuse to produce any other type of wine. After tasting one of their lovely creations, perhaps you’ll agree that their determination is truly a just cause!

Tavel Rosés are primarily made with Grenache grapes. The most popular winemaking technique is to leave the skins on for the initial part of fermentation. Since the skins aren’t a part of the entire fermentation process, the wine remains pink, rather then red, and consequently also has less tannins (resulting in less dryness in the back of your mouth).

In short, a Tavel Rose has the taste of a Red wine, but the light and refreshing feeling of a white.

Suggested Producer: Domain La Fond Roc Epine.

Taste Information: This wine has a light/medium body with a medium dry taste.
Its bouquet is robust with fruit and ends with a slight acidity…leaving your mouth salivating for more

Price: $12.99

Food pairing: Try it at your next BBQ with a hamburger!
Looking for something lighter? Try it with a cold chicken and avocado sandwich, or simply some delicious summer berries.

Locals, where can you find it? For those of you who live in the Boulder/Denver area, this bottle is available at Liquor Mart in Boulder as well as Total Beverage in Broomfield
